I was rostered on duty at the Canberra Gliding Club on Sat 20 Oct. (I'm a glider pilot and instructor; like everyone, an unpaid volunteer). Upon arrival at the airfield near Cooma, NSW the conditions proved unlikely for flying, with excessively strong and gusty winds and thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon.
The storms arrived early but largely passed just to the East.
This image was one of several taken on a road off to the East of the Monaro Highway, as the storm continued not far away to the SE.
This image is made from two stitched photographs using a little Ricoh GXR with A-12 sensor converted to infrared, and a Contax G21 f/2.8 lens converted to Leica M bayonet.
